The back-and-forth motion of rocking chairs has been found soothing and sleep-inducing for babies (and parents, too) since a long time ago. Today’s products expanded the idea. Unlike the ancient wooden chair that we usually imagine how a rocking chair looks, modern gliders are equipped with plenty of padding and actually slide back-and-forth instead of swinging. You must have a glider if you need something that works as a comfortable place to cuddle, feed, or read to your child, also as a place to retreat after a very exhausting day. Among many gliders in the market, Shermag and Dutailier are two best-selling products so far, both coming with an ottoman combo.
Shermag Glider Rocker Combo is a glider made from solid hardwood construction with soft fabric. The style is somewhat more traditional due to the wooden material, and that is a distinct over plus for classic-style lovers. The padded arms also provide storage bags to put books. Shermag utilizes a steel ball bearing system for effortless glides. The product comes along with a matching ottoman. All the cushions are removable. Unfortunately, you need to assemble the product yourself, though it is not that difficult to do.
Dutailier Glider’s appearance is more modern although it also utilizes hardwood construction because the wooden frames are finished in white instead of enhancing their natural color. Personally, I prefer the Shermag’s more elegant looks. The cushions are made of 100% polyester. However, Dutailier gliding system allows stopping at a specific position, and its backrest is fully adjustable. Dutailier is a little heavier than the Shermag, probably due to the larger size. The seating area is about 18” x 18”. Dutailier’s package include an ottoman also, and they come reassembled.

Conclusion
Generally, between Shermag Glider and Dutailier Glider, the latter product would give more practical advantages in usage, especially because of its larger sitting place. However, I really like the Shermag’s semi-classical appearance. Shermag Glider is also cheaper.
