Baby Monitors
Welcoming our new family member is always an unforgettable event in our life, especially for the first time. It will be full of new things and sometimes we don’t have enough time to get used to it but it all will be interesting, funny stories when we tell our children as they get older. It is a well-known thing that in order to properly care for our children, we also have to monitor them all the time so we can know what they are doing.
The problem is we still have to do a lot of things while they are asleep or taking a nap and playing alone. Especially for mothers or parents who work from home, we have to finish other tasks as well such as cleaning the house, doing laundry, cooking, or even have some time to relax for a little bit. In the past we will know by the cry of our little one to notify that they are waking up and looking for us.
But today, through the camera we can always check on them all the time without having to move from our spot. This is very useful for parents who are going to leave their baby’s bedroom or her/his side for a while without having to worry about not noticing their voice. You will also benefit from this device if the house is fairly big where the baby room and other rooms that you often use such as the kitchen or living room are far apart.
We personally recommend it for any parents but highly advised for those with a big house or have many rooms but living alone or there is often no other helper in the house thus, we can act faster when they wake up. However, it is also not something that all parents need since let’s be honest, sometimes technology can make you spend so much on items that are not very useful or have a good value for the purpose which is also the same with a baby monitor.
But of course you can buy or use whatever device or tools you see fit in your lifestyle. We do think that users with fairly small houses or those living in small apartments will not need a baby monitor for we can quickly approach them when hearing the cry. If the little one is sleeping next to the parents or always near the parents, a monitor is also not beneficial. Additionally, if you already have a security system with a camera, we can utilize them in the same manner.

About Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy
If you are here then it means a baby monitor will ease your job while taking care of the little one and now is the time to see what the market has to offer because there are quite a few of them out there. Many baby monitors are very similar to the security system cameras we can have around the house which is why many parents also use them as baby monitors at times. For those who haven’t installed any camera yet, a baby monitor will be very useful to have.
Talking about baby monitors, we recommend sticking to popular brands because they tend to be more reliable and easy to access with lots of satisfied users. Among those good brands that make baby monitors, Infant Optics and eufy are two amazing options to consider especially if you are into rich-featured products. For eufy, most people may recognize them as robot vacuum brands but surprisingly they have few other smart home products including baby monitors. Price wise, these two are very competitive and about the same as many security cameras.
They do have few camera models to offer but today we are talking about their bestselling Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy SpaceView. These two are sold below $200 and among the best in this price range but our favorite part is they do work very well and the image quality is also very good compared to many of their competitors. For less, we can use these monitors for years from newborn until they are old enough to walk and run on their own.
Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy are also still useful for older children who often protest before bedtime so we are always informed of what they are doing. Another great thing about these monitors is there is no need for a Wi-Fi to use them which is great in case you don’t have any wireless connectivity in the house and they won’t occupy the internet if you have many other smart home products within the same system. However, this might be a turn-off for some parents as well since it does limit their features.
Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy Design
Just like most baby monitors out there, these two will come in two pieces; one camera unit and the monitor to watch the footage. As you can see, they have quite a different design for the main camera in which the DXR 8 is looking like a dome camera with a round top measured about 4 by 2.5 inches with a very sturdy feel into it yet heavy as well. You can pan and tilt it but it is controlled through the monitor. The monitor size itself is 3.5-inch and has few buttons for control.
Moving to the eufy SpaceView monitor, this model has a compact dome camera which is shorter and looks a bit unusual for an indoor camera. It is measured about 4-inch high and 3-inch on the widest point at the top with the base measuring at 2.2-inch. The enclosure has this white, glossy finish with a black camera face which is also tilting. What we like better in eufy is this model has a 5-inch display for better viewing experience, and a more modern control panel.
Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy Image Quality
Moving further, similar with any camera, the first thing you may want to know about a baby monitor must be their image quality and in this part, Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy are equally providing a very detailed image especially for baby camera but you will find them grainy or less color-popping like what we used to see from smartphone. In our opinion, side by side they are very much the same but also a little bit different as screen resolution is better in the latter.
DRX 8 image is good but you can see its pixels as well and this makes it appear grainy especially if used in day mode with colored footage. The menu bar of this model also seems too old for today’s fashion in which the SpaceView is better or if you have a digital pocket camera, we feel their screen does have similar quality to it, including the headbar. Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy Features
Moving to the feature side, our favorite part is their pan and tilting function which means you can cover almost a whole room with these cameras. This function is commanded through the monitor easily but just like the image quality, Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy are also slightly different here because the former pan at 270 degree and tilt at 120 degree compared to 330 corner to corner pan and 110 degree tilt to look up and down thus, when placed properly we can see almost anything in the room.
On the additional part, they also have night mode when you turn the lights off and even a temperature monitor to always know and make sure our baby is resting and playing comfortably. They also have a built-in microphone on the camera to listen and talk to your baby while away. If your baby loves lullaby, SpaceView does carry this mode.
Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy Installation
The last part we want to talk about Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy is their installation and this is also what we love the most from these baby monitors. The lack of Wi-Fi may limit the features and benefits of these monitors such as you can’t access it from further away places. However, it also means a straightforward setup because they are paired instantly out of the box. What you need to do is only charge the monitor’s battery, plug the camera, and we are ready to go.
Infant Optics DXR 8 vs eufy
Easy installation is one of our favorite parts of these baby monitors and they are also priced affordably for parents to grab one. Infant Optics DXR 8 and eufy, just like any competitors are different in image quality, mainly because the eufy has a bigger display and for people who are used to today’s smartphone like many of us, their display does look better. The night vision is the same however, and both models have temperature monitors as well as two-way audio.

All in all you can choose any of these monitors as there are no bad options between the two but if we have to pick one, personally we like the eufy or SpaceView monitor because of its better display and looks more modern as well as cheaper.
