Gerber Good Start Vs Similac Sensitive

By | March 24, 2016

Newborn babies do not immediately have the digestive systems found in mature humans. Their digestive tracts are still small, immature, so they need to adapt from receiving nutrients 24/7 via their mothers’ placenta to digesting milk on their own. Thus, we need to be careful when feeding our babies. While an ideal way is usually breastfeeding, sometimes – or, after some time – we may need to give infant formula to the child. To ensure that our babies will be able to take the formula well, the formula should be very gentle towards the babies’ immature digestive systems. Some examples of these formulas are Gerber Good Start and Similac Sensitive. Both products are designed specially for the digestive system of a baby. Gerber Good Start Vs Similac Sensitive

Gerber Good Start is engineered to mimic the complete nutrition and gentleness of breastmilk. The manufacturer even stated that it is their closest formula to breastmilk. It features what they call as Comfort Proteins, small protein molecules that are much easier to be digested than regular proteins found in cow milk. And then, it also contains a mix of DHA, fatty acids naturally found in breastmilk that are crucial for brain and eye development, also prebiotics and probiotics that are beneficial in strengthening the baby’s digestion. You may want to know that Gerber Good Start has been labeled as Non-GMO, so there is no ingredient derived from genetically modified organisms.

We have Similac Sensitive on the other hand. Much like Gerber Good Start, Similac Sensitive is a milk-based formula with proteins that are easy to be digested. It claims to be able to help in relieving fussiness and gas caused by lactose sensitivity, as it contains much less lactose than regular milk. It also imitates breastmilk by featuring the OptiGRO, which is a special blend of DHA, Lutein, and Vitamin E.

So, Gerber Good Start and Similac Sensitive are quite similar; they are designed to be proper nutrient sources for our babies. Gerber Good Start is a little cheaper and a great choice, but, Similac Sensitive should become our way to go for addressing lactose sensitivity.
